Finishes play a crucial role in transforming granite, giving the stone the desired appearance and texture.
Depending on the type of finish applied, the same granite can exhibit slightly different tones and textures, allowing for customization to meet the client’s needs and preferences.
Sandblasted
In this process, a powerful sand jet wears down the granite surface, creating a rough and uniform texture without compromising its structural integrity. This finish is ideal for applications that require a non-slip surface or a more natural look.
Bush-hammered
The stone’s surface is worked with repeated orthogonal strikes using a bush hammer, a metal tool with pointed tips. This treatment creates an irregular texture, with depths ranging from 1 to 3 mm, and emphasizes the granite’s ruggedness, giving it a rustic and authentic look.
Chiselled
This is the traditional finish, done manually with a chisel or masonry hammer. The resulting surface is irregular and rustic, evoking the essence of craftsmanship and giving the granite a timeless charm.
Honed
Abrasive wheels of different grain sizes are passed repeatedly over the stone, eliminating irregularities and roughness. The result is a smooth, matte surface that offers a sophisticated and understated appearance.
